Swindon-based corporate finance specialists Watersheds has completed the sale of a Northamptonshire estate agents to O’Riordan Bond.
Acorn is the only estate agency in Earls Barton with a high street presence occupying an enviable and prominent position in the heart of the Northamptonshire village.
The business was set up in 2012 by husband and wife team, Adam and Philippa Plater, offering a personal and competitive service.
They decided to dispose of the agency to devote more time to their young family and their property development business.
Adam Plater said: “The decision to sell was not an easy one. Watersheds put together the perfect deal and I found David Fletcher of Watersheds supportive and practical throughout the process.”
David Fletcher, Partner at Watersheds, which is located on Old Town, said: “Sometimes the best deal is a sale to a large national company.
“Often they offer the best price, but on this occasion, the fit with a local business was so good it was financially compelling.
“It was important to Adam and Philippa that O’Riordan Bond are small enough to maintain the personal service. There will be no redundancies and O’Riordan Bond will look after both the clients and the employees.
Simon Bond of O’Riordan Bond stated: “This is a wonderful addition to our business expanding our reach to villages between Northampton and Wellingborough.
“We are the leading independent estate agent across Northamptonshire with twelve branches employing 80 people and we look forward to integrating the Acorn team into our business.”
