New rules on data protection will be explained at the next meeting of Swindon Chamber of Commerce.
Kellie Peters, chief executive of Databasix, will bring business leaders up to speed with the General Data Protection Regulation.
The General Data Protection Regulation is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union.
It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.
The GDPR comes into effect in May 2018. Sanctions for contravention range from a written warning to fines up to €20 million.
Recent reports indicate that too many business owners and executives are unaware of GDPR.
Kellie will take a practical approach to putting delegates on the path to GDPR compliance.
The talk will focus on three key themes: people, data and process.
The event takes place at The Marriott Hotel, Pipers Way, Swindon SN3 1SH from 7.30am until 9.30am on Friday, July 14. Attendance costs £24 for members and £36 for non-members.
