Recruiter Forum is just the job to help promote Swindon

on .

Andy WrightAndy WrightSwindon recruitment companies have come together to support the Switch on the Swindon campaign by creating a Recruiter Forum.

The forum was the idea of Lee Marner, managing director of Field Recruitment and a Switch on to Swindon ambassador, and the SOTS team.

Switch on to Swindon is a campaign promoting the town as a great place to live, work and do business.

Field hosted the first Recruiter Forum at its Milton Road offices and there are plans to run them on a quarterly basis, rotating between different recruitment companies.

Half-a-dozen recruitment companies attended the first event, all agreeing to set competition aside and work towards promoting Swindon.

Andy Wright, branch manager at Field, said the forum had gone well and the next, to be held in January, will focus on increasing the links between employers and the town’s colleges.

He added: “We talked about encouraging younger workers into the town and how we can help employers to promote their businesses as places young people want to work, not necessarily by offering more money but by offering packages that appeal to young people, like career progression, or apprenticeships.”

Ross Miller, of Switch on to Swindon, said the Recruiter Forum mirrors similar groups which have been set up in other sectors in Swindon, including among hoteliers and commercial property agents.

The common goal of all is to look at issues facing Swindon, coming up with solutions and looking at ways to market the town externally.
