Chartered accountants, Haines Watts Swindon, are launching an appeal for donations of food to support families in need over the festive period.
Working in partnership with Swindon Foodbank, the team at Old Town-based Haines Watts are asking each other, their clients, visitors and any nearby business people or residents to drop in and donate until Wednesday December 20.
Mike Lloyd, managing partner, said: “We will have boxes in our reception area ready for donations which can be given up to and including December 20. As a Swindon business we feel it’s important to give back to our own community.”.
“This initiative is also being taken on by other Haines Watts’ offices across the country for their own communities as, according to the Trussell Trust, more than 13 million people in the UK live below the poverty line.”
As a result of of Mike and his team sharing their plans, other businesses have offered to help. There will be two other collection points around the town - one at Bevirs Law in Regent Circus and another at Gemini House, Hargreaves Road, Groundwell Industrial Estate, North Swindon. The latter is home to about 20 small businesses.
