With the temperatures soaring, a range of al fresco investments by independent family brewer and regional pub operator Wadworth has ensured a number of pubs are making the most of their outside areas.
The family brewer has recently completed a large external decoration and spruced up the garden at the Bush Inn in Ovington for £75,000 and a full external refurbishment and new patio dining area at the Beehive in Carterton for £70,000.
Alongside these the courtyard at the Goat & Tricycle in Bournemouth has been enhanced, the Bear in Devizes has received a major facelift, and a new outside bar and covered external trading area at the Crown in Devizes has seen the total investment reaching over £500,000.
“Outside areas in pubs are of equal importance to their internal trading spaces and that is why our continuous investment in these are reaping rewards," said Rupert Bagnall, operations director for the Wadworth managed business.
"Customers want comfort outside as well as in. Our programme of developing these external areas to a high level so customers can really make the most of the weather with the same quality they would get inside is paramount to making their days."
The development at the Crown in Devizes saw an increase of 50 additional covers with outside screens featuring sports and a street food open kitchen occupying part of the outside bar area.
