Plans to make Marlborough a dementia-friendly town move up a gear in September, with two events for business owners and managers.
On Wednesday, September 18 Judy Walker, chief executive of Carer Support Wiltshire, will be addressing the monthly Marlborough Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast.
Judy will be talking about the work of Carer Support Wiltshire in Marlborough and the wider county, and outlining the Working for Carers initiative and Courage to Care project.
Judy spent nearly two decades in senior roles in charities including national Citizens Advice as Executive Director – Advice Services, and Stroke Association where she was Services Director for South of England, before joining Carer Support Wiltshire in November last year.
She recently led Carer Support Wiltshire through a successful tender to become the first Lead Carers Organisation in Dorset, commissioned by Dorset Council.
The chamber will also be facilitating a Dementia Friendly Awareness Workshop, with free dementia friendly training for employees – especially useful for those in public-facing roles.
The workshop, which will be hosted by a Dementia Friendly Champion who will be giving a talk on Dementia Friends along with experts from legal, finance, Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer’s Support, and the Marlborough Wellbeing Group, will be held at the White Harte, High Street, Marlborough from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, September 24.
