Almost 150 business owners descended on Deer Park Country House in Honiton for the launch of a scale-up programme in Devon by Westbury-based business growth specialists Inspire.
Inspire, who are scale-up ambassadors for Wiltshire, provide support for high-growth businesses in Bristol, Bath and Somerset.
Earlier this year they were selected by the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership to pilot a scale-up programme for fast-growing SMEs across Devon, as part of its Growth Hub service to provide support at every stage of a business’s journey.
Inspire is designed to break down barriers to growth, share best practice and provide one-to-one bespoke support, advice and networking opportunities with like-minded companies.
The service also includes access to the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business programme which provides 100 hours of fully-funded support to growing businesses.
They have now joined forces with Devon & Plymouth Chamber to deliver this support across Devon.
“We are pleased and proud to be partnering with Inspire," said Stuart Elford, chief executive of Devon and Plymouth Chamber.
“For us it’s all about building partnerships for a brighter future for our local businesses and working with Inspire will help our businesses grow and succeed."
Visitors were able to listen to key speakers that included Henrietta Brown, Inspire’s business development director, Nancy Straates, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Programme director, and David Ralph, chief executive of Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership.
Mr Ralph said: “Raising productivity and prosperity are key aims of the LEP, and scaling up is one of the best ways to achieve production growth.
“I’ve already seen the quality of work they have done in Somerset and I am confident that Devon, Plymouth and Torbay businesses who want to scale up will see the benefit of this exciting initiative too.”
Having conquered Wiltshire, the West of England and Somerset, Inspire’s CEO Rob Perks is looking forward to moving into Devon.
“It was fabulous to attract so many like-minded businesspeople and let them know about the resources that are available,” said Rob.
“There is so much information out there and sifting through it to find what’s right for your business is nigh-on impossible.
“We’re here to do that for you and help you bridge that gap, from everything from access to the right markets and finance to leadership development and searching for new talent."
