Colin has extensive experience and has worked across the world in the pharmaceutical industry, having worked on a number of diverse projects in Kenya, Fiji, New Zealand and Vanuatu.

His background in natural products has taken him on assignments including overseeing the development of a treatment for malaria, the production of organic ginger and recycling fish oil into animal feed.

Most recently Colin was part of the Penn Pharmaceutical management team and latterly PCI Pharma Services.

Having previously worked for Catalent, Colin has returned to Swindon for this role, where he will also be developing the Wasdell’s QP services offering for the industry.

In his new role, Colin will be responsible for the medicines which are processed and packaged by Wasdell at their Swindon headquarters, as well as those produced at their northern manufacturing base in Newcastle and packaging facility in Burnley.

As an EU Qualified Person, Colin must ensure that every batch released to the market from Wasdell complies with its specification and has been made and packaged according to good manufacturing practice, even if the product has been manufactured abroad and imported into the UK.

Outside of work, Colin is the chairman of the Save Baydon Lion Team, a not-for-profit group of volunteers working together to bring the Red Lion pub into community ownership for the benefit of the people and village of Baydon.

Colin said: “Wasdell has an excellent reputation in the sector for providing services and facilities that can’t be rivalled by competitors.

It is exciting to join the company and I’m looking forward to the challenges we’re facing in the future in responding to customer and legislative demands as medicines change.

“Wasdell has ambitious plans for the future and I’m eagerly anticipating the opportunity to help grow the Quality Services department and contribute to the business’ continued success.”

Martin Tedham, managing director of Wasdell, added: “We’ve achieved impressive growth over the last few years and changes in the industry are presenting us with opportunities to continue growing and developing our services, in which Colin will be instrumental.

“Colin has a strong reputation in the industry and his background within natural products and high-potent manufacturing and packaging, including life-saving manufactured drugs, fits perfectly with our offering here at Wasdell.”

Wasdell is one of the largest pharmaceutical packaging companies in the UK, employing over 600 staff across their Swindon and Burnley sites.

They carry out contract packaging for a large variety of medicinal products, ranging from cold and flu to life saving medicines.
