Throughout the year, The Hills Group holds various fundraising activities in aid of charities. But this festive season, rather than supporting just one good cause, the company is doing its bit for several charities.

The first organisation to receive Hills’ support is a local charity which offers food and shelter to the homeless over Christmas.

Hills has been supporting Christmas Care for the past 13 years and this year will be providing waste management services to the shelter, which operates out of Buckhurst Park Community Centre in Swindon.
It can accommodate more than 60 visitors each day, who are given food and hot drinks. They are also able to have a shower, a change of clothing and new footwear.

Group director Waste Solutions Mike Webster also took part in Runvember, which saw him run five miles a day to raise money for Threshold, another Swindon charity which helps the homeless.
Mike also collected goods including toiletries, socks and bedding to donate to the charity.

Employees of The Hills Group have also been collecting items such as toiletries, chocolates and gifts for the Swindon branch of Women’s Aid, so the women at the refuge can get a present on Christmas Day.

Finally, instead of giving Christmas cards, Hills donated £150 to Doorway, a charity based in Chippenham which provides support to the homeless.

Chief executive Mike Hill said: “We recognise the importance of charitable giving and we carry out fundraising activities throughout the year – but as it’s Christmas we wanted to do something extra.

“We hope that these donations will help these charities to continue their brilliant work in making sure everyone has a happy Christmas.

“I’m proud of all of Hills’ employees who have got involved and done their bit.”
