A freehold retail and residential property in Lyneham’s Church End has been sold to developers in a deal brokered by commercial property agent Kilpatrick & Co.
The detached two-storey building comprised three self contained ground floor shops, one of which was occupied by the vendor, Brian Yates, who ran the popular and successful Brian’s Barber Shop for many years, but who has now decided to retire.
The two other shops were vacant and the upper floor, which comprised two flats, was also vacant.
RKA Developments Limited, the purchaser, will be converting refurbishing and converting the entire building into residential flats to offer to living accommodation to Lyneham’s growing population, following the opening of the MOD’s Defence Technical Training College.
Daniel Pitt of Kilpatrick & Co said: “The Lyneham property attracted good interest from various people looking to refurbish and redevelop the property, which at one time had been a former toll house.
“Whilst I’m sure Mr Yates’ customers will miss his barber shop, we hope the sale will give him the opportunity to enjoy a long and happy retirement.”
