The former premises of a cake baking decoration business in Swindon has been bought and let to new tenants – another cake-baking enterprise.
Kilpatrick & Co were asked to sell 37 Faringdon Road, the former home of Sugar Celebrations, with an asking price of £260,000.
The property was bought by a private investor, and the premises let to CakeCraft UK, run by Karen Gray and her business partner Roger Lipscombe, aided by some of the original team of Sugar Celebrations.
Daniel Pitt of Kilpatrick & Co, added, “We were pleased to be of service to the directors of Sugar Celebrations in supporting them to successfully sell their property.
“It was naturally a bitter sweet moment for Sheila Peaple and Carole Stafford to close Sugar Celebrations after almost 30 years retailing in Swindon, but we were pleased to have achieved a sale for them and wish them a healthy and happy retirement”.
37 Faringdon Road comprised an inner terrace 3 storey building of approximately 2,000 sq ft of predominantly brick construction, with a pitched tiled roof with a rear single storey extension. On the ground floor there was a largely open plan shop with display window to Faringdon Road with rear display window, customer entrance and parking.
On the first floor, there was a kitchen and storage accommodation with office/store and a toilet at split level and on the second floor, three additional storage rooms, two cupboards and a toilet. The shop was suitable for any retail trade or an alternative use, subject to any necessary planning consent.
There was also the potential of converting and extending the upper floors to residential, whilst still retaining the ground floor for retail.
The agents reported a great amount of interest in the property, partly owing to the prominence of Sugar Celebrations and the property’s visible location close to Swindon Town Centre and to passing traffic along Faringdon Road.
