The Eternal Optimist – which serves locally-brewed craft ales, cocktails, and botanical gins – was set up by Tom Gee, owner of The Hop Kettle Brewery, and Matt Cole.

The 1,244 sq ft of accommodation above Los Gatos restaurant at 1 to 3 Devizes Road was formerly offices. It boasts original features including wooden floorboards, large windows and high ceilings.

Daniel Pitt of Kilpatrick & Co said: “It is a remarkable transformation of the offices at 1-3 Devizes Road into the Eternal Optimist Bar.

"We are very impressed with the way Tom Gee and Matt Cole have brought their vision for the lounge bar from off the drawing board, into a distinctive and sophisticated environment to relax, unwind over a drink or two.

"We wish Tom, Matt and all their team every success and as the managing agent for the property we look forward to working with them during what we hope will be a very successful and happy tenancy.”
