A fish and chip shop is to open at a retail parade created as part of a new residential area in Swindon.
Wichelstowe Fish Bar is to open in East Wichelstowe after signing a minimum 10-year lease for unit D, a 906 sq ft shop.
The business will join Mid-Counties Co-op store, which occupies the 3403 sq ft unit at the retail parade, and Wichelstowe Dental Care, which opened to patients in November last year.
James Buchanan, investment director at national commercial property and investment company LCP, which manages the five-unit retail scheme on behalf of sister company Sheet Anchor Investments Limited (SAIL), said there has been significant interest in the remaining two units.
“Since SAIL acquired the retail development in August last year, we’ve been working to attract occupiers to the development and have been pleased with the positive response and are looking forward to welcoming new tenants,” he said.
“This is a significant development in Swindon, which has been ongoing for about ten years, so the arrival of local retail facilities, which will also create local jobs, is very much to be welcomed.”
Miles Cross, Whitmarsh Lockhart, which was appointed marketing agent, added: “This is a rare opportunity to secure attractive retail space in the recently completed neighbourhood centre located not only close to Old Town but also on the doorstep of 880 existing residential units, with a further 1,620 following closely in the next few months and years.”
