Golf pro technology swings into Swindon club

on .

Technology used in televised sport to track balls and give stats on the accuracy of the shot will soon be installed at a Swindon golf club.

TopTracer technology is being adopted at the driving ranges at Basset Down Golf Club. It tracks shots, provides instant replays, and gives stats, allowing golfers to make swing adjustments to improve their game.

The technology even allows golfers to share their best shots with friends, via social media, and to virtually tee-off on the world's best courses.

Basset Down – near Junction 16 of the M4 – is the first club in the county to invest in the technology. Each of the 20 driving bays – which now benefits from a new lighting system to allow evening practise as the nights draw in – will have the technology installed by the end of November.

"We’re thrilled to be the first golf club in Wiltshire to have this exciting technology," said owner Juliette Nutland.

"TopTracer will significantly improve the quality of practice on our driving range for all abilities, whether you’re a complete beginner or seasoned golfer."
