Swindon’s National Self Build & Renovation Centre is hosting its first live event since returning from lockdown this weekend.
Their Open Day on Saturday and Sunday July 25 and 26, offers some carefully designed features to ensure visitors enjoy an informative and safe event.
As live indoor performances are still unable to take place the NSBRC have filmed some helpful talks on home building which will be shown in their ‘Self Build Cinema’.
They have also recorded brand new educational audio tours which visitors can listen to (using their own headphones and smart phones) while walking around the NSBRC’s fantastic life-size houses and exhibits.
Special measures have been put in place to ensure the UK’s only permanent home building visitor centre is ‘Covid-19 Secure’, including implementing social distancing and additional cleaning routines.
From Friday face coverings are mandatory in all shops and, as a unique show-room environment, the NSBRC has embraced this rule to ensure their visitors can feel confident about visiting and engaging with their staff and exhibitors.
"We have been really pleased with the number of people who have visited us since we re-opened last month. People have respected our new safety measures and obviously understand the need for them. They are still as keen as ever to view the hundreds of different products and innovations that are on show at the NSBRC," said NSBRC managing director, Harvey Fremlin.
"We are excited about welcoming visitors to what is one of the first live events since lockdown. It will feel slightly different, especially with everyone wearing face coverings, but I think we’re all happy to do so if it means we can get back to some normality."
The National Self Build & Renovation Centre is now open every week (Tuesday to Sunday) with the special Open Day running from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, July 25 and 4pm on Sunday, July 26.
