Swindon and Wiltshire's Local Enterprise Partnership is looking for local business leaders to join its board to increase its strategic leadership capacity and support its activities in growing the local economy.
The LEP was one of 38 across the UK set up by the government in 2011. A private sector-led partnership between local businesses, Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire Council, the military and the education sector, the Partnership is tasked with driving the local economy.
SWLEP is embarking on what it calls "an exciting period of change and opportunities" and has recently incorporated as a Company limited by guarantee.
The board is developing a Local Industrial Strategy which will set out to Government how Swindon & Wiltshire can help the UK lead the global technology revolution.
The strategy will focus on future-oriented, productive business sectors which are embracing technology and are offering the prospect of growth in high-value jobs.
Board membership is voluntary and for a period of three years. Potential members must commit to approximately two working days per month.
