Swindon-based professional services firm Optimum has boosted its audit and accountancy team by taking on three new recruits.
Zach Bunce and Callum Morton have joined the team as accounts and audit trainees, and are already getting stuck into their new career, learning how to prepare and then audit accounts.
Both hailing from Swindon, they are learning on the job as well as at college. Zach, who took an AS Level in accounting, said: “I had been working in financial services and wealth management, but I was interested in accountancy for a career so am very happy to have started with Optimum.”
Callum, who has AAT Level 2, said he is looking forward to starting his accountancy career. “I was working in customer service for retail and leisure, but I wanted a career with great prospects and decided accountancy was for me.”
The third new recruit is Carol Conway, who joins as accounts assistant. Carol has worked in accountancy practice for at least ten years, mainly in Swindon but with a short spell in Cirencester, and will support the accountancy team. Her experience covers bookkeeping, accounts, payroll and tax returns.
“We’re delighted to welcome Zach, Callum and Carol to the team,” said Rob Stokes, head of audit and accounts.
“Although 2020 has been a very difficult year for the economy as a whole, we have a very positive and optimistic outlook which is why we are strengthening our accountancy team. We think it is important to bring new talent into the profession, and we also value experience, so appointing all three is a great combination.
"The opportunity to bring in a new generation provides a different perspective for us and bringing external experiences is also valuable to our firm’s development and growth.”
Optimum Professional Services offers a range of services for business owners, people and families. As well as accountancy and audit, the team provide bookkeeping, payroll, business and personal tax advice. The firm’s legal team specialise in property law, wills and probate, and estate planning.
