Swindon-based independent mortgage company TED Mortgages has recruited another team member during lockdown.

Founder Thomas Brennan and fellow director, Chris Blackwell have already welcomed an additional mortgage and protection adviser, Daniella Black to the team – and she is now joined by James Harris.

James said: “I am very excited at being able to bring my experience to an already thriving team. I know the guys at TED Mortgages take great pride in customer service, as I do. They believe in going that extra mile for their customers and this is exactly what I aim to do.”

After leaving school, James (25) who lives in Calne, started his working life with his father in the building trade, and then to set up a buy-to-let investment portfolio business.

It was whilst discussing mortgages for an investment property with his financial adviser that James decided his future lay in mortgage services, despite his limited experience at the time.

Enterprising James used his own savings to fund his CeMAP (the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) qualifications and succeeded in obtaining the CeMAP accreditation, which is widely recognised as the qualification for professional advice standards.

From there, James went on to work for a corporate estate agency and then became self-employed just before the pandemic struck in early 2020 and he’s now joined the TED Mortgages team as a self-employed associate.

“The beginning of 2021 has been really busy. The property and mortgage business has certainly been helped by the Government initiatives such as the five percent deposit scheme and the extension to the stamp duty holiday.”
